Inka trail and Amazon rainforest

The Inca Trail (or Inca Trail), Machu Picchu and the Amazon jungle, is the most complete route that includes nature, architecture, and Andean culture, with breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains and excursions into the jungle with its extraordinary, remains archaeological. It is an unforgettable experience. 

A permit is required for each visitor to Machu Picchu because there is an entry limit of 500 people per day. We advise you to book the Inca Trail months in advance, as space is limited and permits are exhausted quickly.

Day 1: Arrival in Lima

Arrival at Lima airport, welcome and transfer to the selected hotel. Free time available. Overnight in Lima. 

Day 2: Transfer to Cusco

Breakfast at the hotel and at the appropriate time transfer to the airport for boarding the flight to Cusco. Reception at the airport and transfer to the selected hotel. Free time to relax and acclimatize to the altitude. Overnight in Cusco. 

Day 3: Free day in Cusco

Breakfast at the hotel. Free day for relaxation or optional activities. Overnight in Cusco. 

Day 4: Towards Wayllabamba

We will pick you up at the hotel at 04.30, to head through the Sacred Valley to Ollantaytambo; arrived there we will stop for about 45 minutes. We will visit the surroundings of the town of Ollantaytambo; then we will continue up to kilometer 82, where we will begin a walk not too demanding to acclimatize. We will arrive first at the archaeological complex of Llactapata, continuing up to Wayllabamba, (camping). 

Day 5: From Wayllabamba to Pacaymayo

We will start our walk through the Valley of Wuayllabamba; during our journey, we will be able to observe the nature and ecological change of the area, up to the place called Yunca Chimpa, for which we will prepare to descend to Llulluchapampa (3,750 msnm). From this point we can admire the Valley of Huayanay and the first place located at (4,200 msnm) Warmiwañusca also called “Dead Woman”; then we will descend to Pacaymayo.  

Day 6: The road to Wiñaywayna

On this day we will descend to the second pass called Runkurakay which is located at (3,860 m). Compared to the previous days there will be two more hours of walking to visit the Sayacmarca and Phuyupatamarca archaeological centres, to continue until you reach the Intipata and Wiñaywayna complexes. 

Day 7: Small trek to Machu Picchu

On this day we will make the shortest route compared to the previous days, we will start the walk very early to head to the IntipunKu or Porta del Sole sector, from where we can admire the impressive citadel of Machu Picchu. At a certain time, we will take the buses with direction to Aguas Calientes. In the afternoon we will take the train to Cusco, where our representative will be waiting to take you to the hotel. 

Day 8: Free day in Cusco

Breakfast at hotel. Free day for relaxation or optional activities. Overnight in Cusco. 

Day 9: Rainbow the w Mountain

Pick up at the hotel at 4:00 am, to head to the city of Qajatuno (4300 m.). Arrive at 7:00 am to enjoy a buffet breakfast. Then we start the walk to Mount Vinincunca (5000 m), it will be a journey of about 3-4 hours, depending on the physical state, this is a walk of medium difficulty, suitable for those used to walking in the mountains. Once we reach our destination we can admire the Ausangate mountain range and the spectacular mountain of Vinincunca or a “Mountain of 7 Colors”. After taking unique photographs and having a rest, we will return to the town of Qajatuno, where we can have lunch (buffet lunch). We will arrive in Cusco at around 7:00 pm. Hotel reception and accommodation. 

Day 10: Towards Puerto Maldonado

Breakfast at the hotel. Free day for relaxation and walks in the typical narrow streets of Cusco. At 8:00 pm transfer to Cruz del Sur station for departure to Puerto Maldonado. Night journey by bus. 

Day 11: Welcome to Puerto Maldonado

Arrival in Puerto Maldonado (capital of biodiversity of Peru). Reception at the bus station and transfer to the office for the corresponding registration. Transfer to the port where we will take a boat to our hotel. Welcome toast with a refreshing local fruit cocktail. Accommodation and rest. After a well-deserved rest, as a first activity we will take a 2-hour walk through the tropical forest, together with a local guide who will take us to strategic places to appreciate the immense diversity of trees, which can reach over 500 years old , we can also observe species of wild animals such as toucans, oropéndolas, guacamayos, monkeys, snakes, butterflies, etc. We will have the chance to experience the magic that the Amazon rainforest offers us, which is located inside the Tambopata National Reserve, (278,000 hectares protected). After lunch, we will visit “the Monkey Island”, located in front of our Lodge crossing the Madre de Dios river, where we will find different species of monkeys such as capuchin monkeys and frail monkeys living on the island. Finally, we will return to the Lodge. In the evening we will go in search of white caimans that are usually found on small sand dunes along the banks of the Madre de Dios river, so we will need to bring our torches. Furthermore, we will be able to see the capybara, the largest rodent in the world, which can weigh up to 60 kg. Return to the Lodge. 

Day 12: Discover the nature of Puerto Maldonado

After breakfast we will walk 3 km in the middle of the Amazon forest until we reach Lake Sandoval (pirañas habitat) one of the largest types of fish in the Tambopata National Reserve, then we will take a rowing boat walk, and we could admire the diversity of flora and the fauna of the spectacular Amazon forest, if we are lucky we will have the chance to see a family of giant nutrias (about 2 meters long), this species is at serious risk of extinction. We will also see the largest caimans that come to have more than 4 meters in length. Return to the Lodge to enjoy a delicious traditional local lunch. In the evening we will take a walk where we will be able to appreciate the biodiversity of the night Amazon, we will see different types of insects, amphibians, reptiles and other nocturnal animals. 

Day 13: Still nature and kayaking adventure

At 5.30 am we will take a short walk along the Canopy Walk-Way, which is 30 meters high, which will allow us to appreciate nature from above. We will also have a beautiful panoramic view of the Madre de Dios river. From here we will observe different species of birds such as toucans, guacamayos, tangaras, oropéndolas, it will be a wonderful experience. After breakfast we will prepare for a demanding activity on the trees at more than 30 meters high, for this activity, we will have an instructor guide who will give us the explanations. We will feel the adrenaline when we slip through the trees. Return to the Lodge. Lunch and rest. In the afternoon the challenge will be to cross the Madre de Dios river by kayak, along the journey we will admire a spectacular sunset. 

Day 14: Return to Lima

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport and departure for Lima. Arrival in Lima, welcome and transfer to the hotel. Free day at the passenger’s disposal. On this day you will have the courtesy to choose between lunch or dinner in the local tourist restaurant located within the Huaca Pucllana archaeological site. Transfer to the hotel.
