Lima, Cusco and Machu Picchu round-trip

What we offer you our itinerary is a journey that will take you between the main destinations of Southern Peru, mixing the use of domestic flights and land transport (public or private depending on what will be your choice) according to a formula that will allow you in any case the maximum discovery of the unmissable destinations of the South of the Country. 

Day 1: Arrival in Lima

Whatever the time of your arrival, one of our collaborators or managers will welcome you at Jorge Chavez airport in Lima, to move you to the hotel in Lima. As soon as possible and in any case after a well-deserved rest, coordination meeting with a representative of the agency to show you the last details of the trip. In relation to the flight operation, if possible, the City Tour of Lima will be carried out on the first day or, otherwise, the city tour will still be carried out on a penultimate day. 

Day 2: In flight from Lima to Cusco

Early in the morning, private transfer to Lima airport for the flight to Cusco. Arrival and transfer to the selected hotel. Rest of the day available. Cusco is located at about 3,323 meters above sea level, and it will be extremely important to go out for a very light walk to acclimatize to the new high Andean altitude and face the visits of the next days in the best condition.                 

Day 3: Free visit of Cusco and surroundings

After breakfast, you will be met at the hotel by a bilingual guide (shared service in English / Spanish) to build the city tour of the historic centre of Cusco, cultural heritage of humanity, and to follow the visit to the four archaeological sites that surround the city. The visit includes the inevitable stop at the Plaza Mayor and the Templo del Sol or Qoriqancha. Continue out of town to visit the Incas of Qenqo, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and the impressive Sacsayhuamán Fortress, strategically built on a hill overlooking Cusco. The fortress is famous for its enormous stones, which form the outer walls of the complex, wedged together with a marvellous and inexplicable perfection. Some of these stones are over 9 meters high and weigh more than 350 tons. Return to the hotel around 13:30. Free lunch. The afternoon will be free, to dedicate it to the personal discovery of the historic centre of Cusco. We suggest a walk in the picturesque San Blas district and take advantage of one of the many visits included in the BTC, Cusco Tourist Ticket, such as the Museo Histórico Regional, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Museo de Arte Popular, Museo de Sitio de Qorikancha , Centro Qosqo de Arte Nativo, the Monument to the Inca Pachacutec.

Day 4: Towards the Sacred Valley with a stop in Pisaq

After breakfast, you will be joined at the hotel by our local contact person and will head off with a group tour to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, for a long day dedicated to his knowledge. At first, you will visit the wonderful archaeological site of Pisaq and its famous artisan market, where you can get lost in a maze of small streets created in the town square by hundreds of colourful stalls, followed by the journey to Ollantaytambo to discover the majestic archaeological site with the temple del Sole. The shared tour will return to Cusco, while we will continue independently on foot to the train station (about 5 minutes from the archaeological site) to take the train to Aguas Calientes, which will lead you to the gates of the Machu Picchu archaeological sanctuary. Short transfer on foot and hotel accommodation.

Day 5: The incredible Machu Picchu

The meeting time will be coordinated with the guide the previous evening. Early in the morning, transfer by foot (no more than a few minutes) to the Aguas Calientes bus station to immediately take the shuttle that will take you, along a zigzag path, to the marvellous citadel of Machu Picchu in just 30 minutes. Once there, you will make a group visit to the famous Inca citadel, visiting the “Plaza Principal”, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Solar Clock, the royal houses, the Temple of the Three Windows and cemeteries. At the end of the guided tour, travellers will be given the opportunity to remain inside the archaeological site, in any case, at the right time and based on the time of the return train, it will be necessary to reach Aguas Calientes station to return in Ollantaytambo / Poroy.

Day 6: Flight to Lima

Private transfer to Cusco airport for the flight to Lima. Immediately after arrival, transfer to the agency to Miraflores where you will have free time or you can learn more about the city of Lima by visiting some museums, exhibitions or galleries in the cultural district of Barranco and Miraflores. Very interesting is the LUM (Lugar de la Memoria, the Tolerance y la Inclusión Social), a pedagogical and cultural commemoration space inaugurated in December 2015 that hosts the history of violence experienced in Peru between 1980 and 2000 due to clashes between the State and the terrorist groups Sendero Luminoso and Movimiento Revolucionario Tupac Amaru.

Day 7: End of the program

Transfer to the airport by private vehicle. In case of intercontinental flight, it will be necessary to show up at the check-in at least 3 hours before the flight departure time for the next destination. In case your journey continues to other national destinations, they will be necessary at least 2 hours in advance.
